Eurocard Expansion Slot Sub-Block ================================= The Eurocard Expansion Slot Sub-Block defines the required configuration for each expansion slot on a HotRIO board operating as the master of a HotRIO Eurocard node. The purpose of this sub-block is to encode the slot-level hardware requirements expected by the firmware. During board startup, the microcontroller can read this data, verify that the installed hardware matches the expected configuration, and apply any required setup. This sub-block is intentionally simple. The first register contains a 16-bit identifier that shall match the internal identifier of the board connected to the corresponding slot. These identifiers map directly to board hardware types, enabling firmware to target a specific board type in a specific slot while allowing the microcontroller to validate the configuration before firmware execution. In addition to the identifier, each slot provides 32 configuration bits stored in two 16-bit registers. These bits allow developers to encode basic board-specific settings. For example, on I/O boards, typical settings include pin enable/disable state and pin direction, both of which can be represented directly by these configuration bits. .. regtreedoc:: :file: ./source/design/Architecture/HardwareSubBlocks/EurocardExpansionSlotSubBlock.json :register: ["Expansion Slot Signature"] :addressoverride: Offset + 0x0000 .. regtreedoc:: :file: ./source/design/Architecture/HardwareSubBlocks/EurocardExpansionSlotSubBlock.json :register: ["Expansion Slot Configuration Register 1"] :addressoverride: Offset + 0x0001 .. regtreedoc:: :file: ./source/design/Architecture/HardwareSubBlocks/EurocardExpansionSlotSubBlock.json :register: ["Expansion Slot Configuration Register 2"] :addressoverride: Offset + 0x0002
