Welcome to HotRIO’s Documentation!

Welcome to the official wiki for the HotRIO project. Here you will find comprehensive information covering the HotRIO protocol design, the architectural design of HotRIO devices, their firmware and software, as well as detailed documentation for each module in the horizontal project — the standard library of software and firmware components used to build HotRIO-based systems.

Where to Start

If this is your first time here, or you are unfamiliar with the core architecture and principles of HotRIO, we recommend starting with the Design section, which provides a thorough explanation of the foundational concepts and system architecture.

For users and maintainers of HotRIO-based projects, operational documentation is available in two dedicated sections:

  • General users — Follow the User Guide to learn the general principles of working with HotRIO devices and their associated tools.

  • Advanced users — Follow the Deployment Guide for guidance on deploying and maintaining a fleet of HotRIO devices.

For development reference:

  • Firmware — Detailed documentation on the available HotRIO Firmware VHDL modules contained in the horizontal library, which form the firmware foundation of the HotRIO project.

  • Software — Documentation and design insights for the software running on HotRIO manager microcontrollers.
